Patient Testimonials:

I am proud to have trained at the University of Utah for my shoulder and elbow fellowship. Despite being a new program, I already feel as though this is one of the best places to train in the country. The combination of complex pathology/cases, great mentorship, and the ability to act as an attending at the VA have allowed me to maximize my learning throughout the year. I feel confident that I would be able to perform simple shoulder procedures as well as complex procedures such as tendon transfers and revision arthroplasty procedures on my own as I start my practice this fall. Additionally, Drs. Tashjian, Chalmers, and Joyce have spent time teaching me the subtleties of the shoulder and elbow history/physical exam which will undoubtedly help me better indicate patients and set expectations. They have also spent time teaching and providing me with the resources to have an excellent grasp on shoulder and elbow literature. Through this aspect of my education – I feel confident in how to counsel patients regarding a broad range of shoulder and elbow pathology. In addition, through the excellent research team that the shoulder and elbow team has developed – I have been able to participate in high quality research and now have the tools to incorporate research at a high level into my future practice. Lastly, I have been incredibly impressed with the mentorship that all 3 physicians have provided me over the year. They truly care about my education and well being. I feel lucky to have had such great mentors throughout my fellowship and look forward to a life long relationship moving forward. I would recommend this fellowship to anyone with no reservations whatsoever!
