Current Fellows
Bejan Alvandi
Bejan is originally from Sacramento and moved to LA and Chicago for his medical training. He came to the University of Utah because of the program’s committment to providing the highest level of shoulder and elbow surgical education. The combination of outstanding faculty mentors, complex primary and revision cases, and hands-on operative experience is unparalleled. Additionally, the VA provides fellows with the opportunity to schedule cases and operate independently as an attending. He enjoys spending time with his family, working out, watching sports (NBA, NFL, UFC), and trying new restaurants.

About: Mike is from the Boston area originally. He met his wife, Christine, while in medical school. They now have a daughter, Simona, who is almost one year old. Mike wanted to come train at Utah because of the thoughtfulness/commitment to teaching/great personalities of the faculty (Drs. Tashjian/Chalmers/Joyce), the case complexity/volume, and the opportunity to act as an attending at the VA. He has taken a job as a shoulder and elbow surgeon at Duke University. In his free time he enjoys running, snowboarding, and spending time with his wife and daughter.
